The town of Boone dedicated the new Daniel Boone Monument Sept. 16,2005 at 1 p.m. at the site on the corner of Rivers St. and Moretz Dr.
A strange assortment of goodies are included in this capsule. Various newspaper clippings stating local topics, a map of the old Buffalo Trail, a copy of the deed to the Rivers Park property, a Chamber of Commerce “Boo” sticker, a Horn in the West 54th season brochure, a list of folks that first signed the American Legion documents and much more. Seemingly unrelated objects stand together because their Boone connection neatly ties them into a perfect package.
This will be opened in fifty years and was placed by the Mayor and Chamber of Commerce.
