This marker is located on the remains of Fort Dobbs on Fort Dobbs Road in Statesville. This marker has been restored and placed here on a stone monument by the DAR.

The area surrounding the marker is being refurbished and could take several years to fully restore.

Fort Dobbs State Historic Site is celebrating this year its own founding in 1756 with several events from April into October. Boone forted there with his family for protection on several occasions during the Cherokee War around 1760.
