stand on the original site. Here courageous
Pony Express Riders changed mounts as
they carried the Overland Mail through
1966 miles of territory, now eight states.

[The Pony Express was the brain child of Russell - Waddell - Majors. They were freighters, and outfitters operating in Lexington, Missouri. It was there that the idea of a mail service was conceived. The original offices in Lexington still are standing and in use. This was the first horse barn and office in 1859. It was later moved.
Hours on this now museum, were not posted. And it was February when I was there and they were not open. Neighbors could not provide me with any useful information.
