No one is sure why the name Apple Pie Hill was named to this site in the 1800s. As the highest point in the south Jersey Pine Barrens, at 208 feet above sea level, trips to this site for star gazing, meteor showers and more have been the rage for centuries.
A crafty entrepeneur had decided to bottle the well water from this site and sell this elixir as a cure all. All that remains are ruins. Another real estate investor bought the land around and attempted to sell off five acre pieces, but no one wanted to live in these barrens...
Now, a 60 foot fire tower stands on this hill, and on a clear day, one can nearly see the entire east to West span of south Jersey.
