The upper reaches of the River Tamar are very prone to flooding. The day I visited the Enviroment Agency man pointed out a tree trapped under the nearby bridge which if not moved very soon could cause flooding. It seems that they would need to get into the water, attached a steel cable and winch the tree on to the bank. The river gauge would be closely monitored until this job had been completed.
