This bridge was originally called Abiqua Creek bridge. The more famous name started out as a nickname for the distillers who used the bridge as an illicit distribution point for residents of the then dry city of Silverton. The bridge is a Home truss, with the covering almost completely separated from the main structure. The bridge has been rebuilt several times, but care was taken to make the last restoration in 1990 both authentic and thorough.
