The Rush Fire Department began in 1920 with the purchase of a Model "T" Ford Chemical Fire Truck. The department became incorporated in 1930. The district covers 38 square miles. The main station is located at 1971 Rush-Mendon Road. Station #2 was built in 1964, it is a two bay station housing a mini-pumper and a foam pumper. The ambulance is housed at Station #1. Three other trucks, a brush/utility truck and ATV with trailer are also housed at Station #1.
