"Construction of the Public Library was started in 1912 by Lyall and Sons and completed the following year. This was Moose Jaw's answer to the refusal of the Carnegie Endowment to assist the city in establishing a library in the then town. Moose Jaw built the most impressive library yet seen in the province. The interior has the most marble of any building of its type, second only to the Provincial Legislative Building. The architects, Reid and McAlpine, incorporated traditional designs with state of the art features of the era. These included stylish electric lighting and glass floors that allowed light to flood all areas of the building. In 1993, the Library underwent a major extension and became the Moose Jaw Public Library/Art Museum complex." ~ Saskatchewan Heritage website
