'Court House Steps & Firemens Memorial Fountain
The fountain, built in 1883, was relocated to Miller Park in 1924, where in 1954 it was destroyed by Hurricane Hazel (a replica was unveiled in 1976). At the foot of the steps today stands the sculpture "The Listening Post," featuring a World War I "doughboy" (seen on the main Lynchburg page).' (from (visit link) )
