St. Paul’s Episcopal Church was built between 1891 and 1895 and is home to Lynchburg’s oldest Episcopal Parish, which was founded in 1822. This church is the third church to be erected by the congregation.

The corner stone of the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church was laid on May 26, 1891 and construction continued until late 1895. On December 22, 1895 the congregation of St. Paul’s gathered in their new church for their first worship service. Basically the church stood unchanged until 1960 when the church was renovated for the first time. In 1999 the church was again renovated and still serve as home to a very active congregation.
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church is located next to the Carter Glass House, which was the home of United States Senator Carter Glass. The Carter Glass House is now owned by St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and along with the church is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
