The Bloch Brothers Tobacco Company advertised their Mail Pouch tobacco from 1890-1992 with the barn paintings that were found throughout rural America. The actual advertisement read "Chew Mail Pouch Tobacco and treat yourself to the best". Although the farmer was generally paid $1-2/ year for the ad, the benefit was the guaranteed paint job every few years. While the ad might be on one or two sides of the barn, the re-paint was for the entire barn. Evidence can be seen here of these multiple re-paintings.
