The Sewanee War Memorial Cross is a memorial to all Sewanee citizens and students who served in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam.

Characteristics of this cross:
Large. It is now gated off due to locals and students painting grafitti on the lower half. Four plaques adorn the larger than life cross honoring members who fought in the four separate conflicts. Built in 1922.


Describe the location:
Atop the Cumberland Plateau. It is located in the rural community of Sewanee and on the college campus of The University of the South. The cross is surrounded on two sides by wooded areas. In the front is a view of the Franklin County Valley and in back is the campus of the University.
