Cathedral of the Archangel, Moscow - Cathedrals on Waymarking.com

Commissioned to build a new Cathedral in 1505, Venetian Architect, Aleviz Novyy combined a five domed roof with elements of Italian Renaissance, notably the scallop shell gables. Until the capital moved to St. Petersburg in the early 18th century the tsars and family members were buried here. Rows of white stone tombs with bronze covers fill much of the interior which is decorated with frescoes and icons. The most notable icons depict Archangel Michael.
