Those unable to walk via the steep pathway, or beach road down to the beaches ( 1 in 3 gradients ). The cliff railway offers an alternative and easier way to and from Oddicombe and Babbacombe beaches. Oddicombe is the only beach within Torbay to have its own cliff railway.

Easter to September daily from 9.30 am until 5pm (5.55pm in High Summer).
Current fees (August 2007) Single GBP 1.45 (approx 2.90 US Dollars), Return GBP 1.65 (approx 3.30 US Dollars)
It takes a 68Kw generator to run the 75hp lift motor, which powers the worm drive lift machine taking the cars up and down the 240ft drop. The gradient of the track is 1 in 2.84. The capacity of one car is twenty persons.
One of only sixteen funicular railways still functioning in the United Kingdom.
The cliff railway has carried countless numbers of passengers to and from the two beaches.
At its peak the cliff railway was transporting up to 250,000 people a year.
Since 1st April 1995 following its Royal Assent in 1994 the Marriage Act allows suitable approved premises licenses for marriage ceremonies. Babbacombe Cliff Railway one of sixteen licensed premises in Torbay.
