This arch was commissioned for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and was the backdrop for the medal ceremonies.

The arch is 36 feet high and 72 feet across and weighs 31,000 pounds. It's created with 95 structural panels (9' x 5'), more than 4,000 individually machined pieces, and 13,000 steel rivets. The arch is powered by 2 30hp motors that control 8 cables. The designers were the Hoberman Associates of New York, New York.
