These rock igloos were built 100 years ago by Chinese laborers to live in while digging the railroad tunnel nearby. There are many of them scattered through this ravine. Most have collapsed, but there is one still intact. The remoteness of the site is probably why they have survived so long. Seeing these tiny igloos and trying to imagine living in them makes one very appreciative of the comforts of modern life. I'd never have seen this if not for the geocache located here.
