This can be found on the side of the 10th Century Church in the village of Gnosall. Standing opposite the church porch, go to your right until you see many grooves in the stone. These are from where arrows used to be sharpened! On the buttress to the East, is a very weathered 'scratch dial'. This was a very simple sundial used hundreds of years ago by cleric to tell the time and thereby space their Services at correct intervals.
