Erosion over millions of years has considerably reduced the height of the side walls of this crater and has filled in much of the hole that the impact created.

The crater was discovered while railroad construction was being done in the area. The rock in the area appeared as though a violent event had occured. It is believed that a meteor, 1000 ft in diameter and traveling 10 miles per second, struck this location.
