In 1950, the United States Department of the Treasury commissioned 55 full-sized replicas of the Liberty Bell. These were cast in France and given to states and territories of the United States and the District of Columbia to be displayed and rung on patriotic occasions.
California's bell has an attractive setting in the large beautiful park that surrounds the state capitol in Sacramento.
