Eight Sisters of Saint Joan of Arc arrived at the college on June 24, 1928. The order, established 14 years earlier, handled domestic work in the rectories, freeing priests for ministry and prayer. As a part of this, they also fed the college's 250 students.
When they were no longer needed to make student meals, they turned their attention to pastries. The tradition lasted until the construction of the Davison Dining Hall in the late 1980s.
The number of sisters has dwindled from a high of more than 22 to the house's founding number, eight.
