The garden was built in Japan and brought to Brazil in April of 1954. It was to comemerated the 400th year of the city's founding nd to show thanks to the city's japanese people.


The main attraction is the Salão de Exposição de Arte Japonesa (Japanese Art exhibition hall), which showcases statues, vases and samurai outfits of the 11th century.
