Smartflower Technology
If you stop to watch, you may catch the Smartflower in action. Designed to track the sun's movement from east to west, it produces 40% more energy than standard solar panels. The waterfall pump, irrigation and garden lighting are all powered by this solar system.
This system generates more energy than the garden uses. The excess or 'clean' energy flows back into the utility grid. This 'backfed' energy becomes available for use by neighboring residents and businesses.
Energy captured from the sun by the Smartflower is stored in a Tesla powerwall battery in the toolshed (on your left). Electricity flows between the battery and the PG&E powergrid in Ferndale.
This Smartflower also powers a man-made waterfall nearby. Cool.
