These indian mortar rocks were used be the local indians to grind acorns into meal for cooking. The meal stored well and could be mixed with other foods to eat.

Located within the Mt. San Jacinto State Park, Idyllwild Campground, it is easily found off of the campground road near campsite #6. From the road, there is a sign that identifies the Indian Mortar Rock.

There is a $5 day use fee if you enter the park and stop for a picnic or to hike.
