This is yet another flag following America's most common pattern: The city's seal on a white sheet. The seal of Oakdale is an olive oak tree, surrounded by two olive circles with the words CITY OF OAKDALE, CA on top and the words INCORPORATED 1906 on the bottom.

A word of encouragement to those trying to take pictures of flags

More than a keen eye and a good camera, it takes patience to get a good picture of a flying flag. Here, the conditions were almost perfect, the flag was flying straight and the sunlight came from the right direction. Still, it took ten attempts before I got a good shot of the flag.
