"The Handwerkerbrunnen, or Fountain of Craftsmen, by Klaus Apel (1927-2013) was presented as a gift to the city of Trier in 1984, on the occasion of its 2000th anniversary, by the Chamber of Crafts and the Kreishandwerkerschaft. In the meantime, the fountain has become a popular landmark of the city. Between the foliage of the stylized tree are a total of 36 figures representing various trades. Thus, from the butcher, to the shoemaker and baker, to the photographer, a wide variety of professions can be seen, which also play an important role in Trier."
