The Ordnance QF 25-Pounder, the major British field gun and howitzer used during the Second World War, mounted on on its firing platform. The artillery piece was first built by the British in 1940 and is still in use today by many Commonwealth nations.
In the upper left corner of the shield contains a bronze plaque which contains the inscription:
