This larger-than-life white marble statue of Jesus Christ is at the north end of Perkins Cemetery. Christ is depicted as standing, with arms outstretched, and garbed in white robes. A plaque at the base of the statue bears the text of Matthew 11:28: "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

Jesus Christ is the central figure of Christianity. Most Christians believe he is the incarnation of God the Son and the awaited Messiah (the Christ) prophesied in the Old Testament. Christian doctrine holds that Jesus performed many miracles, was baptized by John, ministered and preached among the people of Israel for three years, was tried and executed by crucifixion so that his death could serve as an atonement for sin, was raised from the dead after three days, and ascended into Heaven, from where He will one day return.
