This area was developed in Georgian times defined as 1714 - 1837. Queen Victoria came to the throne in 1837 so the period of development was just prior to her reign. The street the box is on was developed as terraced housing that has now largely been converted to commercial properties such as offices. In this case it is outside a house that has been converted to a barber shop.
