The local indigenous group of the Gooreng Gooreng have the following term for the Shorebirds - Goothoothoom. While there are x 15 species of resident shorebirds (waders), there is twice as many migratory species, coming from China/Mongolia, Siberia, and Alaska. There are six specific species mentioned.
