The local indigenous group of the Gooreng Gooreng have the following term for the Shorebirds - Goothoothoom. While there are x 15 species of resident shorebirds (waders), there is twice as many migratory species, coming from China/Mongolia, Siberia, and Alaska. There are six specific species mentioned. The sign also lists the Local Risks to Shorebirds: Food Sources, Pollution, and Human Activity; with How You Can Help. There is also a QR code to be scanned for more specific information. There is a measurement on the sign for you to check on the size of the beak of an Eastern Curlew - the longest of the shorebirds in Australia.
