This somewhat unusual marker is styled as a tree stump, and might in fact be a manufactured grave marker. The text simply states that a U.S. survey party camped at this location on August 24, 1874. There is no indication of who, or what agency, set this marker. You will find it at the southeast corner of the Sunnydale Schoolhouse.
