Fonte Carreira - Vila Real, Portugal - Fountains on Waymarking.com

Fountain from 1884 that until 1914 had a statue called Vila Real on top, which today is in the town hall building.
It is made of granite and has two jets of water that come out of two roses.
Above an inscription in Latin that say:

"«Land suitable for your enjoyment, health and rest, which, due to its extension, will also provide the sick with a healthy distraction, the land having been leveled in all its extension and the ground made flat.

Unknown trees were ordered to come from Gerês with which the temperature and the amenity are equally maintained.

At great cost, a source of pure, healthy and inexhaustible water was obtained, and the money used was provided by the most generous inhabitants of this village.

May God grant that troublesome cares, discords and strife always give way to calm contentment.”"
