On Friday, June 18, 2004, Sgt. Gregory Lei Hunter was investigating a suspicious vehicle near this location. The suspect opened fire with a handgun, killing Sgt. Hunter, and was himself killed by another officer seconds later.
This memorial is set at the north edge of the Wal Mart parking lot. A brass plaque gives a brief narrative of the events and celebrates his life and accomplishments.
