This white life-sized marble statue depicts Jesus Christ as the Teacher. He is depicted wearing a flowing robe and a cape, with one hand on a book (but not a scroll) and the other outstretched, as if making a point to His disciples.

Jesus Christ is the central figure of Christianity. Most Christians believe he is the incarnation of God the Son and the awaited Messiah (the Christ) prophesied in the Old Testament. Christian doctrine holds that Jesus performed many miracles, was baptized by John, ministered and preached among the people of Israel for three years, was tried and executed by crucifixion so that his death could serve as an atonement for sin, was raised from the dead after three days, and ascended into Heaven, from where He will one day return.
