Town and Gown theatre began in 1951, staging their first play “The Constant Wife” in the fall. Tickets sold for 50 cents each. By the early 1980s, Town & Gown was conducting outreach programs, workshops, and fund raisers for local schools. Town & Gown also became an active and involved member of the Oklahoma Community Theater Association (OCTA) during this period. An expansion in 1995 included a significant expansion of the size of the theater. Today the theater enjoys a close relationship with the OSU theater department. During my visit the current production was Mel Brooks' "The Producers."
