A plaque on the back of the box notes this an Eagle Scout project, the work of Julie Tavares with Troop 147G in nearby Azle, completed October 30, 2021. It also notes her as the first Eagle Scout of Troop 147G and the first female Eagle Scout of the Lone Star District. This is one of at least two such book exchanges that she placed in the area: Another can be found at nearby Opal Jo Jennings Memorial Park a few blocks away.

The book exchange sees significant traffic, but it is not filled to capacity. The box itself leaks a bit and could use a new doorknob, but it is in otherwise very good condition. It is made of wood, standing on a wooden post and stained, with metal hinges and a glass window up front. The mono pitched roof has real shingles.

Park hours are from 6 AM to 11 PM.
