The village of Dunning lies seven miles south-west of the Scottish city of Perth at the foot of the Ochil Hills on the southern edge of Strathearn. The war memorial commemorating the 36 men lost during WWI lies east of the centre of the village on the B934 Perth Road and was unveiled on July 31st 1920.

The memorial was designed by Mr D.A. Stewart of Perth and built by Messrs Beveridge & Son. It is a wheel cross on a tapering stem with Celtic knotwork, set on a rough stone cairn-like plinth, sitting on a four-stepped octagonal base. The main west facing tablet reads as follows:

'ERECTED BY THE INHABITANTS OF DUNNING AND DISTRICT IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF THE MEN FROM THIS NEIGHBOURHOOD WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR'

Tablets on the remains three sides give the names, ranks, units and dates of death
