[FIN] Turun tyttökoulu tarjosi oppilailleen myöhempää keskikoulua vastaavan oppimäärän. Siihen aikaan koululla ei ollut yliopistotutkinto-oikeutta. Siksi tyttökoulun yhteyteen perustettiin Turun suomalainen jatko-opisto jo vuonna 1895.
Vuonna 1925 jatko-opisto valtiollistettiin ja yhdistettiin tyttökouluun. Koulun nimeksi tuli Turun tyttölyseo, kansan suussa "Tipula". Uuden koulutalon rakentaminen Samppalinnanmäelle alkoi samana vuonna. Koulutyö käynnistyi uusissa tiloissa, nykyisessä punatiilisessä Luostarivuoren koulurakennuksessa vuoden 1926 syksyllä. Luostarivuori-nimitys tuli kukkulalla aikanaan toimineen luostarin vuoksi.
Vuonna 1974 myös poikia alettiin ottaa kouluun, jolloin nimi muutettiin Turun tyttölyseosta Luostarivuoren yhteislyseoksi. Peruskoulu-uudistuksen myötä vuonna 1976 yhteislyseo jaettiin lopulta Luostarivuoren kouluksi ja lukioksi.

Vuonna 1925 valmistuneen koulutalo tiiliseinässä lukee vielä sen alkuperäinen nimi Tyttölyseo. Rakennuksen alapuolella rinteessä on nykyisin koulun laajennusosa.
[EN] Turku Girls' School offered its students a curriculum corresponding to later middle school. At that time, the school did not have the right to a university degree. That's why Turku's Finnish postgraduate college was established in connection with the girls' school as early as 1895.
In 1925, the postgraduate college was nationalized and merged with the girls' school. The name of the school became Turku Girls' Lyceum, popularly known as "Tipula/birdhouse". The construction of a new school building on Samppalinnanmäki hill began in the same year. School work started in the new premises, in the current red-brick Luostarivuori school building, in the fall of 1926. The name Luostarivuori came because of the monastery that once functioned on the hill.
In 1974, boys also began to be admitted to the school, when the name was changed from Turku Girls' Lyceum to Luostarivuori Joint Lyceum. With the elementary school reform in 1976, the joint high school was finally divided into Luostarivuori school and high school.

The school building completed in 1925 still bears its original name Tyttölyseo on the brick wall. There is currently an extension of the school on the slope below the building.
