Rites Thursday for man, 106:

Services for Frank Milling, 106, of 629 NE 12, former Oklahoma City meat packing plant employee, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Shiloh Baptist Church with burial in Trice Hill Cemetery. He died Saturday at his home.

Born at Fort Gibson, Indian Territory, in 1860, he was the son of a U.S. deputy marshal and a Creek Indian woman. He was sent to school in Muskogee, but stayed only seven days. He toured Europe, Russia and Japan before settling in Oklahoma City.

He fathered his last child at the age of 96, the youngest of seven. His oldest "child" was 76, his youngest was 10. He married his fourth wife in 1945.

Milling was somewhat immodest about his physical prowess, but for years he worked 16 hours a day at a local meat packing plant. He claimed to have run 40 miles in 10 hours and said when he was 50 he outran Douglass High School's fastest trackster in a seven-mile race.

Before he died, Milling vowed "to fight urban renewal to the last."

Survivors include his wife, Quintine, of the home, and Dexter, of Palestine, Texas; three daughters, Joyce Faye, of the home; Mrs. Cecil Dawson, Silver Spring, MD; and Mrs. Ruth Lewis, Tampa, Fla; and 11 granchildren.
