From the town of Saarburg to the top of the mountain where Burg Saarburg is located is about 40 meters of difference in height.
To get to the top on foot, several stairs have been constructed from the town.
Sometimes you walk steeply, sometimes less steeply and sometimes you walk on a gravel path.
Along the way you walk past an old church and several old houses built against the mountain.
Going down is easier than going up.
