The Marian Column stands in the middle of Masaryk Square. The square slopes slightly, the column divides the square into upper and lower parts. The photo shows the lower part of the square, including the Marian Column and the Old Town Hall Tower

The spa town Trebon is an important tourist, recreational, cultural and administrative centre in South Bohemia. The centre of the town is protected for its historical value.
The Masaryk Square, almost fairy-tale like, hosts numerous festivals and festivities, music productions and craft fairs. It is also the natural centre of the urban conservation area. Originally, it was an oblong-shaped market place on the trade route along the so called Vitoraz trail. The same number of houses along both sides of the square suggests that the places for them were carefully measured beforehand.
In the middle of the square there is a Renaissance ten-stone stone fountain, the work of the Jordan stonemason from 1569.
Next to the fountain there is a Baroque Marian column from 1780. It is the work of the mason of Ceske Budejovice, Leopold Huber. On the slender pyramid stands the statue of the Virgin Mary, on the pedestal is added statues of St. Josef, sv. Vojtecha and sv. Elizabeth. Some sculptural elements already belong to Classicism.
