[FIN] Urheilutalon takana olevalta kentältä on lähdetty kahteenkin eri sotaan. Ensin Suomen talvisotaan 9.10.1939 ja myöhemmin vielä Jatkosotaan 25.6.1941. Kummastakin tapahtumasta on kiinnitetty muistolaatta talon seinään. Näistä toisen maailmansodan aikainen suomalaisten taistelujoukko oli koottu Laitilan ja Kodisjoen miehistä. Niitä oli kentällä yhteensä 870 miestä. Heidän joukko-osasto sodassa oli Jalkaväkirykmentti JR 56 ja sen II pataljoona. Suomessa on ollut käytäntönä että samalta alueelta kotoisen olevat on koottu samaan osastoon. Monet miehistä olivat jo entuudestaan toisilleen tuttuja, jopa veljeksiä. Tämä Urheilutalo on toiminut suojeluskunta talona, missä moni on harjoitellut vaikkapa aseenkäyttöä jo ennen sodan syttymistä.
Talon osoite on Urheilutie 9, 23800 Laitila. Talossa on nykyään monia eri urheilutiloja, kuten ampumarata. Talossa on myös pieni Pro Patria museo alueen sota-ajoilta. Se on auki vain sovittuun aikaan.
Laitilan pataljoonan komentajana toimi kapteeni A. Mäntylä. Pataljoona osallistui sodassa Maaselän rintamataisteluihin. Sen kaatuneille sotilaille löytyy muistomerkki Laitilan hautausmaalta. Toinen muistomerkki on olemassa Laitilan kirkon vieressä.

[EN] The field behind the house of sports has been the subject of two different wars. Fighting force was gathered there before sending to battles. First the Finnish Winter War on October 9, 1939 and later the Continuation War on June 25, 1941. A memorial plaque from both events is attached to the wall of the house. Of these, the Finnish fighting force during the Second World War was made up of men from Laitila and Kodisjoki. There were a total of 870 men on the field. Their platoon in the war was the Infantry Regiment JR 56 and its 2nd Battalion. It has been the practice in Finland that people from the same area are grouped in the same department. Many of the men were already familiar to each other, even brothers. This House of Sports has served as a civil guard house, where many have practiced the use of weapons, for example, before the war broke out.
The address of the house is Urheilutie 9, 23800 Laitila. The house today has many different sports facilities, including a shooting range. The house also has a small Pro Patria Museum from the wartime items. It is only open at the appointmented time.
Captain A. Mäntylä was the commander of the Laitila battalion. The battalion took part in the battles in Maaselkä during the war. A monument to the fallen soldiers can be found in Laitila Cemetery. Another monument exists next to Laitila Church.
