"Westenesch" is a hamlet belonging to the town of Emmen, in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It has about 176 inhabitants and was originally an independent village. Today, it is no longer a separate core: formally, it is a district of the town of Emmen.

Part of Westenesch is a protected village sight. Furthermore, there are some national monuments in the village.

One of these is hunebed D44, located in a farmyard at the Schietbaanweg. It is the only hunebed in the Netherlands in private ownership."
