Before the city of Kanata became part of the city of Ottawa, the park was named after community leader Judy Laughton.

Through a mature forest, Judy Laughton Park consists of a winding wooded path beginning at Goldridge Drive (posted co-ordinates). There are no flat sections on this walk through nature.

Approaching Kanata Avenue, the tree cover ends and open skies and mowed fields reveal the playground. Trash bins and shaded benches surround the playground.

There is a paved path connecting Cambior Crescent with the park and the playground. Busy Kanata Avenue is near the playground but there is definitely no parking on that road.
