PT-1 Primary Trainer came about as a replacement for their Cub design to be used in the Civilian Pilot Training Program at the request of the U.S. Military in 1942. The PT-1 was the first Piper project with a low-wing design. It also had a tandem seating arrangement with duplicate controls allowing the plane to be flown from either the front or rear seat. Specifications: Crew 2, Length 22'10", Wingspan 35'2.5", Height 6'6" Empty weight 1,325lbs, Gross weight 2,000, Powered by a single Franklin 6AC-298-D, 130 HP.
