Das LVR-Freilichtmuseum Kommern ist eines der größten Freilichtmuseen Europas und zeigt auf etwa 100 Hektar die Geschichte des Rheinlands. Dazu wurden rund 78 historische Häuser und Gebäude aus verschiedenen Regionen des Rheinlands abgetragen. Anschließend wurden sie anhand ihrer geographischen Herkunft zu Baugruppen zusammengestellt und hier wiederaufgebaut. Die ältesten Häuser stammen aus dem 15. Jahrhundert, die meisten sind aber aus der Preußenzeit (18. bis 19. Jahrhundert). Die meisten Gebäude sind begehbar, im Innern wird das alltägliche Leben aus der damaligen Zeit gezeigt.

Eines dieser Häuser ist dieses dreistöckige Fachwerkhaus aus Großholbach aus dem frühen 18. Jahrhundert. Es steht in der Baugruppe Westerwald / Mittelrhein. Im Erdgeschoß hat das Museum einen typischen Tante-Emma-Laden aus der Zeit eingerichtet. Hier können regionale Lebensmittel wie Obst, Fleisch und Marmelade, aber auch im Museum hergestellte Haushaltsgegenstände wie Geschirr und Korbwaren gekauft werden. Alle Produkte werden so wie im 18. Jahrhundert angebaut, produziert und verarbeitet.

Bitte beachtet, dass ein Besuch der Ladens nur mit einem kostenpflichtigen Eintritt im Museum zu den Öffnungszeiten möglich ist. Aktuell (2022) beträgt der Eintritt für Erwachsene 9,50 Euro.
The LVR-Freilichtmuseum Kommern is one of the largest open-air museums in Europe and shows the history of the Rhineland on around 100 hectares. To do this, around 78 historic houses and buildings from various regions of the Rhineland were disassembled. They were then put together into small villages based on their geographic origin and rebuilt here. The oldest houses date from the 15th century, but most are from the Prussian period (18th to 19th centuries). Most of the buildings can be walked in, and everyday life from that time is shown inside.

One of these buildings is this three-story half-timbered house from Großholbach from the early 18th century. It is in the Westerwald / Middle Rhine building group. On the ground floor, the museum has set up a typical mom-and-pop shop from the time. Here you can buy regional groceries such as fruit, meat and jam, but also household items made in the museum such as crockery and basketry. All products are grown, produced and processed as they were in the 18th century.

Please note that a visit to the shop is only possible with a paid entry to the museum during opening hours. Currently (2022) the entrance fee for adults is 9.50 euros.
