Auf dem Hauptplatz von Eggenburg steht eine sehr schöne Pest-/Dreifaltigkeitssäule. Darauf ist eine Gedenktafel mit lateinischem Text, der leider schlecht zu lesen ist, aber in der 4. Zeile von unten folgendes Chronogramm enthält:

Dieses Chronogramm heißt übersetzt "Im laufenden Jahr unseres Herrn" und ergibt das Jahr 1713, in dem ein Ausbruch der Pest in Eggenburg verhindert werden konnte. Zum Dank dafür wurde diese Säule errichtet. Der gesamte Text der Inschrifttafel wird auf www.marterl.at folgendermaßen übersetzt:
Dem unsterblichen König der Ewigkeit dem unaufhörlichem Lob Heilig, heilig, heilig zugerufen werde. In dem, durch den und wegen dem, der eins in aller Wesenheit, dreifach in Personen Gott, dem Vater als Schöpfer, dem Sohn als Erlöser und dem hl. Geist als Heiligmacher als Zeichen schuldiger Dankbarkeit dieser Bürgschaft, die er mitten unter der benachbarten Pest unversehrt bewahrte, Im umlaufenden Jahr des Herrn wurde dieses gegenwärtige Monument vom Rat und Volk der Stadt Eggenburg gewidment.
Eine weitere Tafel enthält zwei zusätzliche Chronogramme, von denen aber leider nur das erste mit etwas Mühe entziffert werden kann und auch auf das Jahr 1713 verweist:

Das zweite, das vermutlich auf eine Renovierung hindeuten sollte, ist aber leider nicht mehr lesbar. Diese Inschrift lautet:

Auf der Website der Stadt Eggenburg findet sich noch folgende Information:
"Bei der letzten Pestepidemie im Jahre 1713, konnte ein Ausbruch in Eggenburg, durch schärfste Maßnahmen, wie z.B. die völlige Sperre der Stadttore, verhindert werden.
Zum Dank gelobte der Stadtrat eine Säule zu Ehren der Dreifaltigkeit errichten zu lassen. Am 17. August 1713 schlossen die Stadtväter mit den Steinmetzen der Stadt einen Vertrag, dass um 365 Gulden eine Säule errichtet werden sollte. Die zusätzlichen Figuren, wie z.B. der Hl. Sebastian wurden von privaten Spendern finanziert.
Der damals wohl bedeutendste Steinmetz Eggenburgs, Andreas Steinböck, leistete den Hauptteil der Arbeit. Am 19.9.1715 fand die feierliche Einweihung der Säule statt."

On the Hauptplatz (main square) of Eggenburg there is a very beautiful plague/trinity column. On it is a commemorative plaque with Latin text, which unfortunately is difficult to read, but the 4th line from the bottom contains the following chronogram:

Another panel contains two additional chronograms, but unfortunately only the first one can be deciphered with some effort and also refers to the year 1713:

This German inscription means: Eggenburg's dear gratitude built me when God removed the near plague. The second, which was probably intended to indicate a renovation, but unfortunately is no longer legible. This inscription reads:

This means: "Me they renewed now.....". On the website of the city of Eggenburg you can find the following information:
"During the last plague epidemic in 1713, an outbreak in Eggenburg was prevented by the most stringent measures, such as the complete blocking of the city gates.
In gratitude, the town council vowed to erect a column in honor of the Trinity. On August 17, 1713, the town fathers concluded a contract with the town stonemasons that a column should be erected for 365 guilders. The additional figures, such as St. Sebastian, were financed by private donors.
The most important stonemason of Eggenburg at that time, Andreas Steinböck, did the main part of the work. On 19.9.1715 the solemn dedication of the column took place."
