The colorful Alan G. Hassenfeld Boundless Playground at Roger Williams Park in Providence, Rhode Island is an inclusive outdoor activity space where children of all abilities can play together. There are several play structures each of which is accessible at ground level or includes gently sloping ramps, two pairs of swings with two that are oversized, and a handful of sensory-rich activities to keep kids amused and busy.

A sign at the entrance reads:

Boundless Playgrounds is the leading nonprofit developer of inclusive playgrounds where children of all abilities can play together. This playground in Roger Williams Park was sponsored by Hasbro, Inc. and is the first public park Boundless playground to be sponsored by a corporation. Please join us in celebrating and thanking Hasbro, Inc. and its employees for making this special playground possible.

Over six million children - approximately 1 of every 10 - have a disability which limits their participation in most typical playground activities. Boundless Playgrounds believes all children, including those with disabilities, deserve the opportunity to freely play among their peers. On a Boundless playground, all children receive the proven developmental and physical benefits of unstructured play. They also learn to appreciate and respect the unique abilities of others, regardless of any perceived disability. For more information, please visit www.boundlessplaygrounds.org.

To the right of the sign, a purple plaque reads: "This Boundless Playground is dedicated to Alan G. Hassenfeld, retired Chairman & CEO of Hasbro, Inc. in honor of his long service and enduring commitment to helping children across the globe experience the joy of play. From all his friends & co-workers at Hasbro, Inc."

This playground near the center of the public park is part of Roger Williams Park Carousel Village and open daily year round from 7:00AM until dark. Refreshments are available for purchase at Frenchy’s Cafe, which is open during the carousel’s hours of operation during the warmer months. On Food Truck Friday (May thru September), nearly 20 food trucks pull into Carousel Village in the evening. Use 1000 Elmwood Avenue, Providence, RI for GPS directions.
