De provincie Utrecht heeft in 1997, wegens het 1950 jarig bestaan van de Romeinse Limes een 20-tal betonnen grenspalen langs de vermoedelijke loop van de Limes geplaatst. De eerste staat in Woerden (daar staat u nu bij). De laatste staat in Wijk bij Duurstede.
Op de grenspalen is een Romeinse helm als logo geplaatst en elke paal geeft op het middelste paneel de afstand aan naar de Castella (forten) waartussen de paal staat, uitgedrukt in Romeinse mijlen. Maar hier is iets bijzonders mee aan de hand. De MP (Mille Passus of mijl) is 1481 meter. Een passum is twee stappen, dus ongeveer 1,5 meter. Maar op deze grenspalen wordt de afstand van 2,2 km gebruikt. Dat is de Gallische Leugae, die in onze streek gebruikelijk was..

In 1997, on the occasion of the 1950th anniversary of the Roman Limes, the province of Utrecht erected 20 concrete boundary posts along the probable course of the Limes. The first one is in Woerden. The last one is in Wijk bij Duurstede.
A Roman helmet is placed on the border posts as a logo and each post shows on the middle panel the distance to the Castella (fortresses) between which the post stands, expressed in Roman miles. But there is something special about this. The MP (Mille Passus or mile) is 1481 metres. A passum is two steps, so about 1.5 metres. But on these boundary posts the distance of 2.2 km is used.
