The first Congregational church in Westhampton was formed in 1779 and their first church was built in 1795. The original church was replaced by a second structure in 1816. This church burned to the ground and was replaced by the current church in 1829 which was designed in the Federal style by famed New England architect Isaac Damon. In 1860 the spire was added to the church.
The protruding entrance has a set of three stone steps leading up to a triple entrance. Each entrance has green doors with a rectangular transoms. The center entrance has two doors and the flanking entrances have a single door. Above each door is an 8 by 8 multi-pane double hung window topped by a 4 pane semicircular window. Each window is flanked by green shutters. Above the window is a rectangular pediment.
The main block of the church is two stories high with rectangular 8 by 8 multi-pane double hung windows on the first level. The second level has an 8 by 8 multi-pane double hung windows with 4 pane semicircular windows.
Rising from the gable roof is a three tiered bell tower. The first section is a larger tower with with rectangular windows. Above is a smaller tower with rectangular windows and on top is a pyramidal spire topped by a weather vane.
