In the 1920s a grid was built up from Port Kembla to supply electricity to the southern region and by 1925 the main towns of Bowral, Mittagong and Moss Vale were connected to it.

However most of the district's villages and rural settlements were not connected until the 1940s and one of the last in the Shire was Bullio, in the late 1960s.

It is located close to Bowral station.
